How do I report a bug?Report a problem through Twitch, the dashboard, or Discord.
Chatters can report a problem in Twitch chat using^bug.
Streamers can also clickReport a Bug from their Bacons Helper dashboard.
Bugs may also be reported in thereport-bug channel on the Bacons Helper Discord server.
How do I add Bacons Helper to my Twitch chat?Submit an add-bot request through the Bacons Helper Twitch channel.
Visittwitch.tv/bacons_helper and enter^addbot in chat.
To submit a request for another channel, include that channel's name with the command.
You must have VIP, moderator, or broadcaster permissions in the channel you are submitting.
Most requests are reviewed within approximately 24 hours.
How much does Bacons Helper cost?Bacons Helper is provided without a required subscription or fee.
Bacons Helper is free to use.
People who would like to support the project may subscribe to the Bacon_Fixation Twitch channel.
Additional support options may be added later if they become necessary, but they are not currently a priority.
Do I need to provide a token or API key?Sensitive streamer tokens are not required.
No. Bacons Helper does not require streamers to provide a Twitch access token or private API key.
This is an intentional design decision. Avoiding privileged user tokens reduces the amount of sensitive information the project must store and protect.
Does Bacons Helper sell my data?User data is not sold to advertisers or other companies.
No. Bacons Helper does not sell user data, and there are no plans to do so.
Why are channel-point features not available?Some Twitch features require privileged broadcaster authorization.
Bacons Helper was designed without requiring or storing privileged broadcaster access tokens.
This improves privacy and reduces security risk, but it also limits access to certain Twitch features.
Features such as managing channel-point redemptions or changing a stream's title and category generally require broadcaster authorization that Bacons Helper does not request.
How many developers work on Bacons Helper?The project is primarily developed and maintained by one person.
Technically, Bacons Helper is developed and maintained by one developer.
In spirit, everyone who has submitted feedback, reported bugs, tested features, or suggested an idea that reached the final project also deserves credit.
Many of Bacons Helper's features began as ideas from members of the Twitch and Discord communities.
Is there a standalone version I can run locally?Bacons Helper is currently operated as a hosted service.
There is not currently a standalone version available for local hosting.
A self-hosted version is not completely ruled out, but the installation, configuration, updating, and support workflow would need to be simplified first.
The project also has to remain manageable without negatively affecting family life or other long-term responsibilities.
What is the meaning of life?An extremely serious and scientifically verified answer.
Cats.
The answer is cats. Definitely cats. Even if that was not previously the answer, it is now.
Why does Auto Translator require four or more words?Longer messages provide more reliable language detection.
Very short messages do not provide enough context to reliably determine the language being used.
The language detector compares the message against a large vocabulary. One-word and two-word messages frequently match multiple languages, slang terms, names, or abbreviations.
Translating these short messages would produce too many incorrect translations and could unnecessarily spam chat.
These percentages represent the approximate rate of unintended translations observed during testing.
Where does the similar-games command get its information?Game recommendations combine several game-data sources.
The^similar command uses several sources to find related games.
These sources include the Internet Game Database, commonly called IGDB, the RAWG API, and Bacons Helper's own database of retro and obscure games.
IGDB is also used by Twitch and contains information for games that have Twitch categories.
What does the internal-filter warning mean?Bacons Helper blocked unsafe command input or output.
The message"‼️ Chatter, the message violates my internal filters" means that part of the command interaction contained a filtered word or phrase.
By default, Bacons Helper checks both command input and generated responses before posting them in chat.
Output filtering can be disabled with^set output-filtering off.
How do I show Spotify music information in chat?Link Discord, Twitch, and Spotify so Bacons Helper can detect the current song.
Song information currently uses Discord to determine the relationship between a Twitch account and a Spotify account.
To use the song feature:
- Install and run Discord.
- Enable both the Twitch and Spotify integrations in Discord.
- Join the Bacons Helper Discord server.
- Start the stream while Discord and Spotify are running.
- Play music through the connected Spotify account.
Once the account relationship has been detected, use^song in Twitch chat to display the currently playing track.
Enable automatic track notifications with^set song-notifications on.
